Tweed Jackets
A tweed jacket earns its place as one of the few menswear pieces that works in almost any setting — thrown over a shirt and jeans for a weekend out, or worn with a tie and waistcoat for a wedding or a day at the races. What carries it between the two is the fabric itself: genuine wool tweed, woven in herringbone, barleycorn and classic check, with enough texture and weight to read as deliberate rather than a leftover suit jacket.
Every style in this range is a standalone sports jacket, cut to be worn with separate trousers rather than as part of a matched three-piece set. If you’re shopping for a kilt outfit specifically, you’ll want our Tweed Kilt Jackets instead — they’re cut differently, with a shorter body and braided epaulettes built for Highland dress. If you want the jacket and a matching waistcoat and trousers as a single three-piece outfit, see our Tweed Suits.
Fit and sizing. Our tweed jackets are made from genuine wool and cut to a true-to-size, tailored fit — close enough through the body to layer a jumper or waistcoat underneath without looking bulky, with room through the shoulder for everyday comfort. If you plan to wear it mainly as an outer layer over knitwear, we’d suggest sizing up; for a closer, more modern silhouette worn over a shirt alone, true to size is the right call.
How to wear it. For a wedding, country wedding or formal event, pair a herringbone or check jacket with one of our Tweed Waistcoats and dark trousers. For everyday wear, a brown or green tweed jacket sits naturally over jeans and a crew-neck jumper with a pair of boots. On colder days, our Tweed Scarves are woven in matching herringbone and check, so they pair directly with the jacket rather than clashing with it.
Care. Genuine wool tweed holds its shape well and doesn’t need frequent washing — brush it down after wear and dry clean only when it’s genuinely needed.
Every jacket below is made from real wool tweed, true to size, and ready to wear straight out of the box.
